The Fairport Merchants Association (FPMA) has announced that the winner of the 34th Anniversary Fairport Canal Days Festival poster contest is Victoria Brzustowicz.
Brzustowicz, of Penfield, is a graduate of Wells College where she majored in studio art. Upon graduating she was hired as a partner/illustrator for Tim Tucker Images in Rochester. In 2003, she joined Mason Selkowitz Marketing in Penfield as a senior art director.
She is currently the principal of Victoria B Creative, in Rochester, where she develops graphic design and marketing concepts for a variety of clients including small business, not-for-profits, and printers.
The inspiration for Victoria’s concept, a modern impressionist-influenced execution depicting Fairport’s inner harbor, was easy to find in Fairport.
“The renaissance in Fairport has been tremendous. The village has come so far in the past 20 years. It’s become a beautiful destination” said Brzustowicz. “In general tried to put everything I love about Fairport in one image. This is an all American town and I wanted to create a little slice of Americana."
A limited number of the full-color posters will be sold for $10 at Canal Days. Brzustowicz will also be available to personally sign them at the two-day festival which will take place Friday through Sunday, June 2-3.
Fairport Canal Days Festival is one of the largest festivals in the northeast, drawing over 225,000 people to the picturesque village each year.
