Annual Fairport Angel Walk Scheduled for August 3

Our community will unite on August 3, 2012 at 6:00pm for the annual Fairport Angel Walk.

The Angel Walk is held every year in memory of Meredith McClure, Bailey Goodman, Katie Shirley, Sara Monnat and Hannah Congdon, who were killed in a car crash on June 26, 2007, just days after their high school graduation. The event shook the Fairport-Perinton community and the impact of the tragedy was felt across the nation.

The three mile walk will start and end at Kennelley Park Gazebo. This year’s walk is on the fifth anniversary of the Celebration of Life that was held in August 2007 at Fairport High School to remember the girls.

Perinton Bicentennial family picnic, contests to be held Saturday, July 14

The Town of Perinton’s two-week celebration of its 200th anniversary comes to a close this weekend with a gala family picnic on Saturday, July 14 and a concert on Sunday, July 15 evening, both at Center Park behind the Perinton Community Center on Turk Hill Road.

“We’ve had a wonderful string of events with great participation from the community,” said Pat Knapp, member of the Perinton Bicentennial Executive Committee. “But we’ve always planned that the family picnic this Saturday would be a highlight, because there’s something for people of all ages – and, once again, it’s all free.”

The picnic, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday features an antique car show, a firemen’s waterball competition, a horseshoe tournament, a Lollypop Farm “kissing booth,” Gadgets the Clown, and plenty of traditional, old-time picnic games like potato sack relays, and three-legged races.
