The driver of a vehicle towing a utility trailer that flipped over Friday morning, resulting in the closing of Route 490 East near Eastview Mall for two hours during the morning rush hour, has been ticketed and charged with speeding.
The driver, Renee Metzger, 20, Country Downs Circle, Fairport, lost control of the vehicle she was driving after the trailer struck a guardrail, according to Ontario County sheriff’s deputies. The vehicle veered into a grass median.
Metzger and four passengers were not hurt in the crash, which happened at approximately 6:30 a.m. Friday, deputies said.
They all work for Blue Apple Productions, which owns the vehicle and trailer. The 18-foot trailer contained generators and bounce houses.
Traffic was backed up for miles as a result of the crash.
Monroe County sheriff’s deputies, the state Department of Transportation, Victor-Farmington ambulance crews and Fishers and Bushnell’s basin firefighters assisted at the crash scene.
Metzger is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date.
