The man charged with manslaughter in the death of a Fairport High School teacher is out of the hospital and is behind bars.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office Cpl. John Helfer tells News10NBC that 22-year-old Mark Scerbo II is in the Monroe County Jail in downtown Rochester.
Deputies say he was driving the motorcycle that first hit Heather Boyum. She died Sunday morning while riding her bike after being hit by a motorcycle, and then a car.
Deputies have also charged 23-year-old Megan Merkel, who investigators say was driving the car, with vehicular manslaughter. The New York State DMV confirmed that neither Scerbo or Merkel had a valid driver's license at the time of the crash. She is also in custody.
Boyum was laid to rest Thursday morning.
