Perinton plan to pass hydrofracking ban on Wednesday | News
This week, the Perinton Town Board plans to pass a ban on hydrofracking-related activities within the town.
Last month, the board reviewed three amendments to the existing zoning code that prohibit all extraction, exploration, and storage of petroleum and natural gas.
The draft law seeks to protect land from "improper excavation" and prohibit landfills from disposing of hazardous waste produced by fracking.
The proposed changes came in response to the request the Citizens' Alliance for a Pristine Perinton (CAPP), an anti-hydrofracking group that was formed earlier this year. They first asked the board to enact a fracking ban in March.
A public hearing for residents to share their feedback on the proposed law will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Perinton Town Hall, 1350 Turk Hill Road.
