Officials at the NYS Dept. of Conservation regional office in Avon reports a bear sighting in Perinton July 5th.
A person reported seeing a black bear about 12:35 am Monday while returning home from viewing fireworks. The bear was spotted on Rt. 31 about a half-mile west of the hamlet of Egypt.
Officials can not say whether this is the same black bear that was spotted in Perinton and Pittsford about two weeks ago.
The bears have no radio collars, so tracking them is left to sightings by the public.
D.E.C. wildlife experts says people should expect to see more black bears in populated areas, especially in the months of June and July which is mating season for black bears.
